The Week in Swiss Startups (7-11.8.2023) - Week #33
The second week of Aug ‘23 features 3 startups and 2 exits. Switzerland as one of the hidden gems in the global startup landscape. Italian €€€ for your international VCs!
Hi there,
Despite experiencing low investment activity last week, Switzerland continues to shine as one of the hidden gems in the global startup landscape. Notably, Dealroom statistics for Q2 2023 reveal Switzerland's impressive performance, securing a notable position at number 10 in global VC investments.
Adding to the intrigue are the international investors' participation in early-stage funding rounds:
Saeki secured a Seed funding round of $2.3M, led by Wingman Ventures (CH), with participation from investors hailing from Italy and the UK, including Vento and Getty Capital.
ZuriMed achieved a significant milestone with a Series A funding of CHF 14.5M, with leadership from Chindex Medical Limited, a Hong Kong-based venture capital firm.
Furthermore, as an active promoter of cross-border collaboration between the Swiss and Italian startup ecosystems, I’d like to highlight the following initiative by Cassa Depositi e Prestiti (CDP), Italian Government’s innovation fund:
Fondi di Fondi Internazionale: a €300M fund for international VCs that plan to invest in Italian-based startups. An interesting opportunity to scout Italian talents!
